One day driving along a busy highway in the Fraser Valley, I noticed a hastily scrawled sign that had been put up in a roadside pullout. NO SELLING ALOUD it dictated, conjuring up all kinds of amusing possibilities in my mind. Unfortunately, when we returned later with camera in hand, the sign had been removed. Somehow, it seems the perfect title for a blog that reflects on the junk business, consumer issues, family history, rants, stories and humour.
These are photos of the Royal Visit to Calgary taken by my father, Arnold Roberton in 1951. At that time, Elizabeth was still Princess Elizabeth and was visiting as the representative of her father, King George VI, who was unwell.
